It is apparent early on in conversation with District 7 City Council candidate Michael George that he loves cities, but the dedicated urbanite and co-founder of Parents for a Better Downtown Seattle (PBDS), also professes to be fond of wild spaces too.

George has lived downtown for 11 years, and is a senior project manager at commercial real estate firm Kidder Mathews who is focused on transit-oriented development.
He said he and his wife noticed a lack of public schools, playgrounds and green spaces in the neighborhood when they were expecting their first child seven years ago, so they started the Parents for a Better Downtown Seattle nonprofit. Working on Seattle Public Schools task forces, he saw the needs downtown were not unlike those in many neighborhoods around the city, he said.

Housing and Transportation leader Michael George announced his campaign today for Seattle City Council, District 7. District 7 includes Queen Anne, Magnolia, Uptown, Belltown, South Lake Union, Pioneer Square, and a small portion of Capitol Hill. He will be running for the seat held by Sally Bagshaw who is retiring this year.
